She is most passionate about working with youth and young adults who have experienced trauma and have turned to substance use to help them cope. Her work at the recovery high school – Coastal Prep – is particularly close to her heart. Kathryn enjoys helping young adults navigate toward becoming the people they want to be.
Background and Education
Before joining Cape Assist, Kathryn spent two years as the clinical director of a substance abuse care facility that used a proprietary approach designed to balance clients’ biological, social, and physiological needs. She spent nine years in a mental health and substance use services practice, first as a consultant and therapist for children, then directing the curriculum development for an intensive drug and alcohol outpatient treatment program for adolescent and adult groups. Kathryn then took on the role of Family Adolescent Alcohol Program Counselor, working with adolescents and teens with drug, alcohol, mental health, and/or anger issues. She also created curricula for a number of programs.
Kathryn earned a bachelor’s degree from Saint Joseph’s University in Interdisciplinary Health Services and a master’s degree in Counseling Services from Rider University.
