Chelymarie Reyes

Prevention Program Coordinator

There’s No I in Team

Chelymarie Reyes is the Prevention Coordinator a Cape Assist, a role she’s held since 2015. She is responsible for planning and leading multiple support groups, including Strengthening Families, W.I.S.E group for older adults, and Achieving Personal Balance.

Chelymarie also assists in the K.A.R.E. program, Cape Assist’s after-school program for youth. She enjoys working with people of all ages, but especially enjoys making the K.A.R.E. children smile.

Chelymarie also helps with fundraising, community outreach, and special event planning for Cape Assist. She works to obtain corporate sponsorships and in-kind donations for the agency’s fundraisers, helps with the logistics and planning of each event, and co-leads all set-up and break-down.

If that was not enough, Chelymarie is also part of the team that works on the Cape May County Hope One Van, a community initiative led by the county Prosecutor’s Office. The van travels throughout the county to educate the community, provide addiction services and support to those in need, and offer NARCAN training.

Background and Education

Chelymarie started working at Cape Assist as a part time employee when she was 15. Her official career with the agency began in 2009 when she was hired on full-time as an Administrative Assistant. Her willingness to grow and learn enabled Chelymarie to cross-train within the agency and become not only knowledgeable in multiple areas, but versatile. Over time, Chelymarie moved into more client-focused roles including Program Associate, Intake Coordinator, and CADC Intern, before accepting her most recent role as Prevention Coordinator.

Chelymarie stays connected to the individuals, youth, and families she has worked with over the years, and continues to share their successes and failures, noting “Failure is not the opposite of success; it’s part of success.”

Chelymarie is CPR- and AED- certified, and NARCAN-trained. She also achieved her Presumptive Eligibility (PE) for NJ FamilyCare certification.
