Alana Maldonado

Prevention Programs Associate

Everyone Is Doing the Best They Can

 

A Prevention Associate since 2018, Alana primarily is responsible for managing Older Adult Programs such as WISE (Wellness Initiative for Senior Education) and the Care Giver Support Group.

 

Alana also manages several youth initiatives, including Incorruptible.us, which promotes lung health and educates the community, particularly youth, about the dangers of tobacco use and vaping. She is also the Lower Township Healthy Community Coalition Youth Sector Coordinator, recruiting youth and engaging them in activities to educate the community about drugs and alcohol.

 

Her work also includes assisting in research, activities, and events with the Cape May County Healthy Community Coalition to educate the community about substance use and reducing risk factors. She also teaches Botvin Life Skills to youth in schools. 

 

Background and Education

 

Alana earned an associate’s degree in Human Services, graduating magna cum laude from Atlantic Cape Community College.

 

She is certified to teach Botvin Life Skills, TIPS training, Strengthening Families Program, and the WISE Program. She is also a certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist.

 

Life’s Passions

 

According to Alana, research demonstrates that people who are resilient are more likely to lead healthier lives and are less likely to use drugs and alcohol.  She says that makes her passionate about helping others build resilience, practice self-care, and cope with stressors.
