TIPS Training


About TIPS Training

TIPS (Training for Intervention ProcedureS) is a nationally recognized program that educates individuals on the responsible service, sale, and consumption of alcohol. This skills-based training helps prevent intoxication, underage drinking, and drunk driving, ensuring compliance with alcohol laws and reducing liability risks for businesses. Upon successful completion, participants receive a certification valid for three years.


Who Should Attend?

This training is ideal for anyone involved in alcohol sales or service, including:

  • Bartenders, Servers, and Waitstaff

  • Liquor & Grocery Store Employees

  • Desk Agents

  • Hotel and Event Staff

  • Security and Door Staff

  • Managers, Owners, and Cashiers


Topics Covered

  • Understanding state laws and alcohol regulations

  • How to identify and refuse service to intoxicated or underage patrons

  • Accepted forms of ID verification

  • Understanding Dram Shop Liability Laws

  • Preventing over-service and handling difficult situations


Training Requirements

  • Class participation is mandatory

  • Training is approximately three hours long
