About the Keynote Speaker:
Brandon R. Brown (He/Him/His) is a West Philadelphia native and an alumnus of Saint Joseph's Preparatory and Temple University. During his 25+-year career as a national consultant/trainer/facilitator, he has focused on challenging and strengthening individuals and communities and ensuring safe spaces for young people to flourish.
Some of his current and recent affiliations include working as a Trauma Specialist with Temple University's Lewis Katz School of Medicine at the Center for Urban Bioethics, contributing to the Philadelphia Healthy and Safe Schools (PHASeS) initiative, a Certified Trauma Informed Practitioner and Facilitator with Lakeside Global Institute; and a Facilitator for Mentoring Independence Region. Additionally, Brandon serves as the Chair of the International Mental Health Committee for Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. Also, he is currently in his 21st year as the Volunteer Lead Advisor for the Darryl L. Coates’ Sigma Beta Clubs of Philadelphia, working with young boys of color aged 8-18.
Brandon's extensive experience includes roles such as Co-Lead Trainer for SAMSHA, where he conducted trainings on engaging Men and Boys of Color and Substance Abuse, and a Facilitator with the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA). He has also served as the Interim Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Saint Joseph’s Prep and provided technical assistance and capacity-building support to the Achieving Reunification Center.
His past involvements include the Mayor’s Commission on African American Males, Philly Goes 2 College, the Philly Roots Fellowship Program, Black CAPS Philly, Project U-Turn, and the Greater Philadelphia Mentorship Partnership. Finally, he serves Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., locally, regionally, and internationally.
