2007 Prevention Awards Winners
 
Cape Assist presented its 2007 Prevention Awards at the Public Policy Breakfast held on April 27th at the Flanders Hotel in Ocean City.  Pictured are this year's winners receiving their awards along with citations by legislators U.S. Congressman Frank LoBiondo, State Senator Nick Asselta, Assemblymen Jeff Van Drew and Nelson Albano, and Cape May County Freeholder Gerry Thornton.

Officer Joseph Catanoso of the North Wildwood Police Department received the Individual Partner in Prevention Award for developing and promoting substance abuse prevention efforts in Cape May County and the City of North Wildwood.

 


The Greater Wildwood Elks Lodge #1896 was the recipient of the Community Partner in Prevention Award for outstanding leadership and giving of time and resources to help community groups and organizations achieve their goals.  Accepting the award were Elks Lodge members Gordon Jones and Mike Brady.



Public Service Announcement contest winners (on the theme of underage drinking) were: Allie Bailey and Courtney Diebel of Middle Township Middle School; Carly Crisanti of Richard Teitelman School; Ava Braunfeld of Sea Isle City Public School; Bridget Maxwell of Margaret Mace Elementary School; and Michael Hodges of Ocean Academy.

Outstanding Peer Leadership Awards went to Stephanie Bryant (above) of Wildwood High School and to Lower Cape May Regional's SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) group for outstanding promotion of positive young adult leadership. 


CMC Technical H.S. students, under the direction of Ms. Nancy Wheeler Driscoll, shared their award-winning 30-second Public Service videos on Why I Choose to Be One Less Statistic.  The videos were created by students Amanda Sumler, Joshua Benson, Devin Burner, Robert DeRouin, Michael Bravo, Eric Waddington, Brandon Obermeier, Simone Valentine and Kristin Todd.
