Cape
Assist charges into to its 26th year full of hope and
promise as the environment of prevention becomes acknowledged in the
community. The value of "saving" children from addictions has become
a topic to be discussed, no longer a topic be avoided. The planning
processes of the past year bear this out. Cape May County's MAPP
(Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships) process
has listed drugs and alcohol and tobacco as its number one health
concern. The Underage Drinking Coalition has received more attention
and volunteers than ever before. Most important to us is the
overwhelming response to our 2007 Annual Appeal where a record
number of community people and groups supported Cape Assist
financially. It is not only important for continued service, but
lifts all of us that work here at Cape Assist up knowing the
community values us as stewards of their funds in our present
economy.
